Accounting company in Ukraine: how to choose one
Picking an accounting company in Ukraine is a decision about people and accountability, not about a price list. The market runs from global brands to one bookkeeper at home. Below is what each type is good for, what to check before signing, and where the right answer is not our firm. Written for the owner or the chief accountant deciding whether to hand the books over or keep them in house.

Match the provider to your reporting obligations, not to your size. If you file only Ukrainian reports and run a simple payroll, a local accounting company is enough. If you report to a foreign parent, need figures in English or expect a statutory audit, take a firm on the public audit register that belongs to an international network. Check that entry, the liability clause and who will keep your books.
Four types of accounting company in Ukraine and what each is good for
Right when a parent or a lender insists on a global brand, or when transfer pricing spans several countries. For a small subsidiary, daily work goes to junior staff and you pay for unused capacity.
Our type. Fits foreign owned companies needing English reporting, IFRS figures and a statutory audit ahead. Wrong for a dormant company. The bench is thinner than at a global firm, so fix scope and deadlines in writing.
Sound for Ukrainian operations, standard payroll and filings only to local authorities. Most are not on the audit register, so no outside quality control stands behind the work.
Works for a very small company with few operations. It breaks on continuity: illness stops your filing and liability is thin. After months of gaps, restoring the accounting costs more than the savings.
What to check before you sign
Audit firms carry a number in a public register anyone can check. Ours is No. 4624.
Membership means shared methodology and review from outside. Ask which network, and when the last quality review happened.
Read what the provider answers for: penalties from late or wrong filing, how a claim is handled, any cap.
Ask the name and seniority of the person on your file, and who covers holiday or sickness.
If your board reads English, reports must arrive on a fixed calendar, not as a translation on request. IFRS reporting belongs in that talk.
Settle before signing what you receive when the contract ends: the database, primary documents, reconciliations, open balances.
Questions to ask on the first call
A registered firm answers in one sentence and invites you to check.
A name, a level of experience, and a named substitute in writing.
Who collects the documents, who drafts the reply, who meets the inspector.
Documents, headcount on payroll, VAT status, currency operations, IFRS. A quote before anyone sees your documents is a guess.
In what form you hand over primary documents, who reminds you about deadlines, who keeps the receipts confirming that reports were accepted.
A provider who knows the statutory audit criteria raises this before you do.
Why an audit firm rather than a bookkeeping shop
Books are kept by an accounting team inside an audit firm, and each quarter an auditor of the same firm reviews the file. Routine, not an extra service.
The review catches what inspections look at: missing primary documents, expenses that will not hold, VAT positions nobody can support.
A firm that keeps your books cannot issue the audit opinion on those accounts. We prepare the file for the incoming audit team and warn you when the company nears the thresholds.

What clients ask most often
Our group has accountants abroad. Do we still need a provider in Ukraine?
Yes, if the Ukrainian company files here. Local rules, local formats, filings in Ukrainian. We keep those books and send the group figures in English.
Can the whole engagement run remotely?
Yes. Documents go electronically, answers come in writing, meetings by video.
Which reports do we get in English?
The monthly and quarterly management package and the annual set. Filings for the authorities stay in Ukrainian.
Our books have been neglected for a year. Where do we start?
With a review of what exists. We list the gaps, then propose the work. Often restoration of the accounting comes first.
How is the fee set?
By the assignment: documents, payroll headcount, VAT status, currency operations, IFRS, report languages. We send a proposal after we review it.
Can you audit the accounts you keep for us?
No. Independence rules stop a firm from auditing books it maintains. We prepare the file for the incoming auditor.
