What we do

Audit

Audit of grants, donor-funded projects and non-profit organisations

Expenditure verification against the budget and the grant agreement, audit of annual NGO financial statements, verification of grant use, capacity assessment before a grant. Report in the format the donor requires: ISA 800, ISA 805, ISAE 3000 or ISRS 4400. Grant audit for donors, audit of non-profit organisations, project audit.

Accounting

Accounting for NGOs, LLCs and representative offices

Project-based grant accounting, donor reports in budget format, payroll and HR records, tax compliance, IFRS and English-language reports for foreign owners. Books kept from day one so that the audit passes without findings. Accounting services in Ukraine.

How we work

Five rules we keep on every engagement

Questions as we go, not at the end

We raise findings immediately so that you have time to provide documents and correct the accounts before the report is signed. The donor receives a clean report, not a list of problems.

Auditor and lawyer together

The team includes auditors and lawyers in commercial and tax law. The grant agreement, the charter and tax risks are reviewed at the same time, not one after another.

Report in the donor’s language

The audit report and the management letter are issued in English and Ukrainian. We answer donor questions after submission together with you.

Confidentiality

Documents are exchanged through secure file transfer, are not disclosed without the client’s consent and are kept in line with the law and professional ethics.

Liability in the contract

Our engagement letters include liability for the quality of work and advice. We send a proposal after reviewing the assignment, with no hidden fees.

Remotely across Ukraine

Most engagements are completed without site visits. We travel where the donor or the nature of the task explicitly requires it.

Qualification

Who works on your engagement

The firm’s auditors confirm their qualification with the Audit Chamber of Ukraine every year, and staff are members of the Ukrainian Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors. Every employee holds a degree in economics or law. Reports are signed by a certified auditor from the Ukrainian register, backed by DFK International membership and external quality control.

History

From a publishing house for accountants to donor project audits

2000Beginning

The team starts out as the Glavbukh audit and publishing group: audit, tax advice and publications for accountants.

2000sGlavbukh publishing

Over 1,000 issues of accounting journals and more than 100 books on accounting and taxation. This is where the habit of explaining complex things in plain words comes from.

2014MK Audit

The audit practice continues under the name MK Audit. The focus shifts to non-profit organisations, donor-funded projects and foreign-owned companies.

TodayDFK International

The firm is a member of the DFK International network and issues reports accepted by donors, banks and foreign owners worldwide.

FAQ

What clients ask before the first meeting

Are you on the audit register and do donors accept your reports?

Yes. The firm is listed in the Ukrainian Register of Auditors and Audit Entities under No. 4624. Our reports have been accepted by UN agencies, EU and GIZ projects, embassies and private foundations. Before we start we send the register extract and confirmation of DFK International membership.

Do you only work in Kyiv?

No. Engagements are performed remotely through secure file exchange anywhere in Ukraine. We travel when the donor explicitly requires it.

How much do your services cost?

The fee depends on the scope and the report format. We send a proposal after reviewing the assignment, usually within one working day.

Can you keep our books and audit them at the same time?

Under independence rules an auditor cannot audit accounts that the auditor keeps. For each client we therefore provide either audit or accounting services, and we say so openly at the first meeting.
